We are so pleased to have completed the project of digitizing most of the South Berwick and Eliot high school yearbooks so they can be viewed online. The project started in the spring of 2017 with the cooperation of Marshwood High School librarian C. J. Mauger, yearbook advisor Katie Gilpatrick, and William Fogg Memorial Library librarian Lydia Goodwin pooling our incomplete collections of local yearbooks.
This is the first local digital collection of the South Berwick Public Library!
The books were shipped to the Oklahoma Correctional Industries, a part of the state prison system which provides the Yearbook Project service. Prisoners scanned the pages at no cost to the libraries and returned the books and the scans to the South Berwick Library.
Librarian Shannon Weber and volunteer Denise Foster spent the next year working with the scans to put them in a form that would make them searchable and accessible. The Maine State Library assisted by providing a host site in the digitalmainerepository. Check out this collection and all the other collections that are being developed at this fabulous site.
We know you enjoy this new part of our collection.
