Mara Flynn in concert

with Juliet Nelson, Guy Capecelatro and Jason Anderson

Tuesday January 16 at 7:00 pm

Singer songwriter Mara Flynn has released three albums on Burst and Bloom Records; her debut solo album, “Small as a Heartbeat” (2011) and her follow-up, “Wide Open” (2013).  Her newest record, “Good Hands” was released in November 2016.

As a teacher, student and practitioner of theater and music, she has come to learn that these arts are powerful lenses through which we can deepen our sense of community, self-awareness and empathy.”

“Mara Flynn welcomes a song into the world with a voice hovering somewhere between heaven and earth, rich with love and tenderness, yet tinged with pain—even sadness, and a womanly wisdom that only sorrow knows.  Her writing is fresh and nuanced…  I could listen to Mara sing her lines of hope…  forever, and never tire of the beauty of her voice.  Even in—especially in—the darkest midnight. ” –John Perrault

“Wide Open” is Flynn’s follow-up to her 2011 Burst & Bloom debut “Small as a Heartbeat”…  the result is a soulfull 11-song album that blends elements of  roots-rock, country, jazz, and blues.  Flynn’s voice is dreamy and meditative…  There’s no skipping over tracks on “Wide Open”.  It’s an invitation to slow down and let the album fully wrap itself around you like a blanket”  — The Wire, NH

Tuesday February 13 at 7:00 pm

A Few Seconds with Our Fathers a tribute to Veterans of WWII

Award winning songwriter Curt Bessette and Jenn Kurtz present a program honoring WWII veterans and their generation through stories, Curt’s original songs, popular war-era songs and the historical facts that inspired them.

“A Few Seconds With Our Fathers” is a tribute to World War II veterans and their families and generation. It honors veterans of all wars and makes no political statementjust a concert to celebrate veterans and keep those stories alive.  Bessette and Kurtz will perform original and cover songs and tell the stories behind each tune in a “musical history lesson.”

A WWII memorabilia table is available for viewing before and after the performance.

The songs are about Pearl Harbor, the war in Europe, veterans returning home with emotional and physical wounds, life on the Home Front…and the historical facts surrounding these songs and stories. Several of the songs are about Curt’s father, who was a WWII veteran, and a son’s awareness that his father, like so many veterans who came home, never said a word about their war experiences.
